RSF RACING - RAY AND STU FLANNERY
WHAT IS AUTOGRASS
Autograss is Britain 's most popular form of amateur motor racing. The sport takes place at around 50 venues throughout England , Scotland , Wales , Northern and Southern Ireland .
Autograss is car racing, usually on a quarter mile dirt oval tracks. Although highly spectacular to watch, it is first and foremost a participant sport. Autograss is truly a family sport and anyone can take part. Junior drivers start at 12 years old and move in to the adult classes at 16 years of age, some continue on in to their 60's and 70's. There are a number of different classes of vehicles that are raced but RSF Racing vehicles are Class 5 cars.
Class 5 vehicles are modified saloons 1131 cc – 1420cc with any combination of shells and engine types. Vehicles can be front or rear wheel drive and so long as they stay within the rules laid down there is scope for their builders to use their skills to produce a winning car.
RSF Racing is a team of two Class 5 Mini's one is front wheel drive and one is mid engine. The team has been around for two years now and comprises of two brothers Ray and Stuart Flannery. In that time they have worked hard to bring the cars up to a competitive level using their own knowledge and through research. The team had a reasonable 2004/2005 with both cars competing well at club level.
In the 2005/2006 season it was decided to only bring out the Mid engine Mini (LM222) driven by Ray Flannery and concentrate all of their efforts on the one car. This meant that for the first time Stuart moved from driver to mechanic.
The move paid off with LM222 driven by Ray narrowly missing out on a National place finishing fourth in the league. The car also currently sits in second place at club level.
RSF Racing approached Dudeskin in the latter part of 2006 as they saw the potential of the strong brand name of Dudeskin and their extreme clothing range as the perfect match for their team in this extreme sport. The Autograss season begins in April so look out for the Dudeskin mini !!!!!!!!
